No. He had an opportunity and didn't cock it up. In fact more than that he grabbed it with both hands and delivered the goods. Just the sort of character we need. A winner rather than a "not-loser."

Well now we will get to find out.
By the way there is another post which is asking what we can expect to get from Mancini, formations etc. No one seem to be able to answer so far, as you are such a fan perhaps you could respond to that post? I am sure it will help out a lot of fans who don't know much about him.

OOOOHHH IM ALL TINGLY WITH EXCITEMENT

No one`s given you an answer yet, so I will...No we`ve got Mancici. I`m very underwhelmed. I will support him but fuck me, what`s he won to respect? Serie A by default. JM made HIS team better.

YOU ANSWERED YOUR OWN QUESTION THERE DICK HEAD he's won more then hughes ever has

Chill out mate, this aint Bluemoon ;)

Not read all the posts but heard the appointment (contract) of Mancini rested on how he does from now til the end of the season. Any truth in this?

never been on bluemoon in my life and i just didnt appreciate the sarcasm and they said that might be the case but its come out that his contract is until 2013 but im sure there's stipulations regarding minimum expectations, so if he mess's up like hughes they wont have trouble getting rid of him either

Last season Dunnie was very poor at times and now he's better than ever at Villa. Lescott had a great season and impressed me a lot last season, now look at him. Toure has been a rock for years at Arsenal, now look at him.

Maybe this is one of the reasons Hughes has been sacked?

What do you lot think about how mark hughes will come out talking about how he was sacked?

You think he will tear into the chaiman and bosses etc or just say he can understand and he enjoyed his time there and has respect for all of them?

Re: Hughes Sacked

Postby Lev Bronstein » Sat Dec 19, 2009 9:49 pm

I'm not sad for Hughes as such, after all he'll get a lottery win size of compensation. But I am sad that it didn't work out. I suppose two things knackered him.

Firstly, the results weren't as they should have been, too many draws, too many indifferent performances. I said after the Chelsea victory that the tactics were spot on and the team seemed to be playing Hughes' way, which begs the question "Why didn't they do it all the time?".

Secondly, and probably more importantly, Villa and Spurs seem to have got their act together and are pulling away from us. Still we weren't in an impossible position, and there was plenty of time to catch up. No way are we out of finishing in the top four.

We'll get slated for the manner of his sacking. But then too much weight is given to the opinions of so called insiders, it's a bit masonic and an old pals act. Listen to any ex-player, or manager when another manager gets the sack and they always disagree with it. I don't why they get asked because they always trot out the same lines.

Still, he kept his job, and was backed long after other managers would have got the sack - rightly or wrongly.

As for the media, most of them have the mindset that City or a joke club and have no right to think about winning things, so will use anything real or imagined to slag us off. But too be quite frank, when you've made up your mind to sack a manager mid-season, it never looks good.

There'll also be alot of criticism about sounding out a new manager whilst there's already one in position. But what else can the club do. In Khaldoon's office there'll be a drawer containing filesmarked Plan B, Plan C, and so on. If I was in their shoes I'd already be thinking about what we do in case Mancini doesn't work out. It's not very nice, but planning ahead for a range of posibilities is the sign of good management.

Another question raises it's head. Why are the chances of a British manager, or one brought up in the British game, getting a job at a club with a genuine chance of winning the Prem so low? (Im not counting Fergie, he's more from Brian Clough's generation - one of the finest managers these islands have produced). Or to put it another way. Should Fergie, Benitez, Ancellotti or Wenger leave their clubs which home grown manager would take their place? I can't think of one nailed on certainty: O' Neil, Moyes, Rednapp, Hughes?

There couldn't be something wrong with British managers could there?
