This - if he’s happy to get his money and work his way back into the first team, great, he has the talent - i really hoped he would fill the Bernardo void but he’s just not got the head for it to be bernardos’ level - people mature all the time, so it could happen and I hope it does - right now though, not good enough to be starting even in the so called easy games

Completely different type of player mate. Bernardo was all energy press and tackling back, with some creativity thrown in. Even when Foden is on form, he tries to tackle back but just fails, fouls or loses it

He has played 373 times for us. I think there’s enough experience there for us to not have to wait and tough it it out hoping he will rediscover his previous form. This isn’t some young kid just finding his feet.

Would we want to buy a player with his career trajectory? I doubt it, which tells its own story

Not changed my mind, still a hang on. If he cannot rediscover the hunger and his form by the end of this season then there is no helping him. He is going to spend a lot of time bench sitting now the wide areas have cover so he has to start putting a shift in playing inside.

There was a credible article recently about why the likes of City and Chelsea can command huge fees for youngsters but also flops. For us, profits on Savinho, Reindeer and Nico G spring to mind.

Slightly lesser clubs imagine they can work wonders with them and it's no shame to be left out with us. Apparently.

Seems to work!

That may well be the case John. But in this instance I was pointing out if WE were the buying club, not a lesser club as it were, we surely shouldn’t and wouldn’t be looking at a player with the form he has shown since winning PotY. Therefore if we wouldn’t consider buying him then it stands to reason we would/should try to offload him. As your OP gives as an option

If he can accept being a occasional sub off the bench I'm all for keeping him
