I reckon this was done to make the papers quiet and also make the players settle no doubt Pep is coming in at the end of the season this deal will be pellers pay off.

that's all this is...just an insurance policy to make sure he's not a lame duck. This means nothing but financial security for the Count, and good for him. He deserves to get that payout when he's sacked next summer, even if he wins the fucking quadruple.

Puts pay the hacks nasty dead man walking if we have dip during the season. I think if Pep wants the job, its his whenever he wants it. I am 100% behind the count until we get pep in

He earned this, to be fair.

We have a gentleman as a manager. The club needs to stay by him because he was and is a really excelent servant. I had some doubts at some point regarding him, but earlier this year, a guy from the romanian press called him to ask him something about Pantilimon, he was convinced there was no way Pellers will respond. Instead, our top man answered and spoke for 10 minutes with a guy from fucking Romania that calls you about a player that you don't longer have. Class.

same. I'm still torn about how i feel about Pep. He's sort of like a "Hindu Mourinho" imho. I'm not sure if that's good, or not. Is he a great coach? I dunno...These managers who only ever work with the best in the world are sometimes only ever truly "great" in that one environment they did it in. Has Pep been world class at Bayern? I dunno. He's done the basics and not fucked it up, too much. Yawn.

cheers

Weird. He should have spent that 10 minutes giving Kompany a back rub or something.

I don't think this changes anything. Its security for both parties to prevent Pellers leaving mid-season and given him some compo when if gets the push for Pep next summer.

Its like when Fat Sam was having his contracted wound down last season and all the players had given up. Or if someone comes in for Pellers and he decides to leave in search of a longer contract mid-way through the season.

Pleased we've done it though.

A sensible move by the club.

You can't allow your manager to face every press conference and every interview as a sitting duck for the inevitable "will you be here next year Manuel?" type stupid fcking questions.

This could and would have a negative effect on the whole team

Classy move. He deserves the backing, and agree with all that hopefully this helps motivate the players and quiet the media a bit about having a lame duck manager, as well as that Pep could still come anyway.

Thinking about it not so sure its going to stop the pep talk. If the season unfolds looking a bit dodgy regardless of contracts the pep talk will intensify and wont go away. The only way it will go away is if pep continues as he is.

in my opinion this changes nothing. all it means is that there is some uncertainty re: Pep, which there always would be.
this way we have continuity lined up if Pep turns us down next summer and Pellegrini is surely better then whoever we'd panic sign next summer. surely if Pep agrees then the club will have no qualms about paying whatever buyout they put in Pellegrini's new contract. smart business move.
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

It says to me. "Here you go Manuel, if we send you off at the end of the year, you'll get a decent payout".

If Pep comes in great, we have a top manager. Question is, "What if Pep doesn't come?"
Do we keep MP, Do we promote Paddy, or do we look for another manager? Four options open to us
