But if we are applying that rule, why should Zabba, Yaya, Clichy & Aguero get a game ?

All were at least as bad as those mentioned & in some cases worse.

dropping Dzeko now would be stupid, he is scoring and assisting, so let him continue IMO

Hart's been subpar for quite a while now, Garcia's been subpar since the moment he shuffled in (slowly), Fernandinho looked lost on sunday and whilst Ya Ya was poor too, he was certainly better than Fernandinho, Dzeko was anonymous and Negredo merits a start, hence the replacement.

Zabaleta bad games are rare, sunday was one but he can certainly merit a chance to rectify it given his performances over the past 3 years. Clichy wasn't THAT poor on sunday, whislt Aguero isn't match fit - he hasn't played a game in pre-season. The only way we will get him fit is by playing him.

I would add that if Ya Ya's current form continues, he too will merit the axe as he should be on last warning.

Fernandinho didn't look lost to me, he looked like he needed a partner who would work with him, which Yaya didn't.

His closing down forced players right into Yaya's path on numerous occasions only for Yaya to miss the tackle or simply not bother trying to make one. Was rare an attack by Cardiff came through his area of the pitch. Also, imo, you could have played him in Silva's position & he would have contributed just as much & probably more.

Dzeko was better than Aguero.

If Kolarov had let in the cross Clichy did, he would get hammered for it. Zabba was rubbish pre season & rubbish v Cardiff.

Garcia is not a cb so his place is up for grabs, but I don't think any of the other players mentioned deserve singling out. Everyone was shit apart from Navas, who was not too bad.

Fernandinho was worse than Ya Ya, way way worse. He looked slow and lead footed, was lightweight in the tackle, and kept giving the ball away. In short, the exact opposite of what hes supposed to be. Watch that game again, watch Fernandinho and then adjust your opinion. A sit down wont do him any harm at all. Cardiff's first goal stems from his needless give away of possession in the first place - watch it again.

Dzeko was no better than Aguero, and Zabba wasn't rubbish all pre-season, nor was he so against Newcastle, nor is Richards fit to replace him.

He basically needs to be more shit to justify being dropped. He isn't going to pick up form or get better whilst sat on the bench.

He himself will know he hasn't reached the levels so far and is no doubt determined to get back up there.

Some faith is required.

fuck me, hart should have been dropped 6 months ago!! correct me if I'm wrong, but i though the objective is to win matches and trophies? pantillimon has been the superior keeper and deserves to start unless/until joe pulls his fucking finger out.

I'd be tempted to to play Negredo for Aguero. That Argentinian fucler made me forget he was playing in the second half.

The thing about Aguero is he is shit at seeing a simple pass and bringing others into play. He is a great player and no doubting his ability but sometimes I just wish he would look up and make a simple pass rather than trying to beat 5 defenders at once.

Funny you should mention Fernandinho's closing down forcing players into Yaya's path because if you look at Cardiff's first goal it's actually the reverse, Yaya applies some pressure forcing Kim into Fernandinho's path who makes no effort to tackle, instead leaving him to Clichy.

Except that isn't actually what happened. Yaya gets skinned (Aguero stands still & lets the geezer pass without even trying, would Rooney do the same even now ?) the bloke then heads off to the right, away from Fernadinho, who turns to follow & is blocked off by another Cardiff player.

To blame him for anything there is the kind of unfair comment usually reserved for Lescott. He is utterly blameless, the bloke is never anywhere near close enough to Fernandinho for a challenge.

Given your uncanny ability to be 100% right 100% of the time I shouldn't really argue Ted but if you freeze the highlights reel at 7.24 on the OS you'll see that had Ferna stepped forward he could've stuck a toe in just as Kim takes the ball away from Yaya.

i think yr high...he pushes him outside to Clichy which is fine. If Clichy does anything like a professional footballer then it doesn't happen.

Not every fucking dribble can be contested ffs. You can expect a player to make up a yard of space with the opposition player on the move...lil' Ferdinand would more likely have been skinned to the inside than to make an ambitious tackle in that situation imho.

Nope too far away & against all training to dive in like that. Unfair.

It makes me laugh when people base current form on only the last game played. I'm not talking about Hart either in saying that.

I don't think Hart needs to sit a few games out to refocus, he can do that midweek between games. How long do you think it takes to "refocus"?

Dropping players rarely has the desired outcome unless its done perfectly and the player to be dropped agrees.

Goalies need confidence, you don't gain confidence on the bench.

Panti sounds like an attractive option right now, he did well in the FA cup against a load of shit teams.

I remember very few people being confident in his abilities over the last 2.1 seasons. Especially after the Charity Shield game last season.
