I dont think hes better than what we have tbh but if we cant get our other top targets i.e Cavani then he'd be a good addition.

agreed he's better than he's given credit for here. however, i'd rather see him stay at the swamp and continue to lose interest, hair and value than have rags cash out now and reinvest in younger and hungrier players from abroad...

I know that the stats and records say that he is a major player but some people just typify the arrogance and sheer twatishness that is the scum brand.

It is these people that I would not want any where near our club - keane in the past - the neville sisters, evra and that twat wooney come into that bracket.

Thank fuck the worst one has gone - I just cannot forgive us letting him leave on a high

Correct. I hope those people hang their heads in shame. If I remember correctly that's half of the posters here.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The Ricky Hatton of football.

He will be washed up at 30. United are doing the wise thing getting rid of him.

I would have taken him two years ago but not now.

I would've taken him in 2010. I wasn't embarrassed to say that then and I'm not now. I'm certainly not going to 'hang my head in shame'. He was coming off the back of a 30-odd goal season and would've made us stronger and them weaker. I don't like him at all, but it would've been a winner in footballing terms.

Thinking again in purely footballing terms, he doesn't have a lot to offer these days. He's not in the same class bracket as Sergio and doesn't show the same consistency as Carlos.

I'm honestly struggling to think where he'll end up. Maybe Chelsea, but with Torres hitting a bit of form, Ba there now and Lukaku probably going back, I think they'll probably choose to strengthen elsewhere. He's not good enough for the two Spanish teams and, though Munich are rumoured to be interested, they're already teeming with forwards.

It all seems to point towards PSG.

Sorry Doug youre right.. he is. But I wasnt factoring in Dzeko because I think hes pretty much gone anyway. So what I'm saying is.. when we replace Dzeko.. if we cant get our targets then Rooney would fit.

I've had a few run-ins with you down the years. I'm sure most posters have!

I don't remember the specifics of that one to be honest, and I don't want to start trawling through threads that are dead and buried.

The argument at the time seemed to be centred upon whether or not his playing for City would have been palatable. For me and some others, it would've been (in fact, it would've been another one to help stick it to Stretford after Carlos ditched them for us a year earlier). For you and some others, probably a slight majority, it wouldn't have been palatable.

Whether he was good enough to play for us at the time wasn't up for debate. He was. Now he isn't, so the old debate is moot.

I agree.

One thing I did notice, when RvP was struggling Shrek was the one to step up. I'm not a big fan but I can appreciate that he's far from washed up.

I'd be utterly disgusted to see him in a City shirt, odious character and he has plateaued in footballing ability terms. He seems to be resting on his laurels.

Off topic but I'd like to have Benteke here.

You're soooo confusing? Where when what you on about. And no, I dont give men rimjobs EVER and I'm not a fan freckles lol.
If you read my first comment in this thread you'll see my feelings on the matter. He would probably improve our squad thats all I'm saying. If he'd have scored THAT goal to win us the league last year or THAT overhead kick for us rather than against us then I bet youd be creaming his rim before giving it man love. Thats all I'm saying aswell.

Im not defending him in any way, and as I said in the other thread about if we wanted him here: "Hell no" - BUT I don't think he's washed up yet. When a player makes up his mind to leave a club his performances suffer (look at Clichy in his final year at Arsenal where I get the feeling he decided early in the season to leave) - I think Shrek decided some time ago (maybe even some time last season) to leave at the end of this season.

When RVP was leaving the Arse there were plenty saying we don't want him or need him.He was too old and injury prone bla bla bla. Would we have won the league if we got him rather than the scum?Who knows but they sure as hell wouldn't have had it gift rapped as it was.

Now we have shrek possibly leaving. If he was currently and arse or Chelsea player we would probably be interested even if he is an odious git but because he has been at the swamp for so long and clearly isn't getting any better we won't go for him.If he does go he will strengthen whatever team he goes to. I reckon he would fit Arsenal.

If I had to speculate I would say that the Old Drunkard got him to promise not to leave while he was their manager when he got the Glazers to give him a new contract a while back - it's kind of significant that he is rumoured to have requested a transfer at the same time as the Old Fart retiring.

Of all the teams in the top six Arsenal would be the worst fit not least because it would blow their wage structure completely out of the water. I could see him at Spuds as part of a deal involving Bale but even that is pretty unlikely. The Chelsea rumours persist but partly because Mourinho declared himself an admirer when he started at Madrid, Chelsea will look elsewhere first but maybe an option if other targets are missed. I cannot see him easily fitting into German football or him wanting to go anywhere but Bayern. Cant see him fitting into either the current Bayern setup or the Guardiola picture though. What is left will depend on his motivation. Actually think he would be best suited to the time and space he would get in Italy, I have not seen enough French football but perhaps PSG or Monaco would offer him plenty of football and a nice lifestyle over the next 3-4 yrs.
