First they throw the Suarez to us just because Mancini believes he was the player of the season (do you really think he was going to say RVP?) and then drop the Rodgers link in. Don't call me a sage but I wonder if we'll get the 'Rodgers to take Suarez to City' story soon?

All this on the back of a 6-0 emphatic win for the Dippers. I'm sure none of their fans will want to pick up the paper or click the link online to read that story; surely.

For the last three years, or so, the Mirror has been waging a single minded, one-paper assault on city in an effort to undermine us.

Scarcely does a day go by without an article about how Mancini is within an ace of being sacked and if I had a fiver for all the managers, over this period of time, that were supposedly 'favourites' to take over at The Etihad, I'd be exceedingly wealthy.

Before this current 'revelation' about Rodgers, the owners were poised to offer the job to Frank de Boer, but it would seem that now he is yesterday's man, although they ran with that story for over a week and flogged it for all they were worth. Before that, Ancellotti was a racing certainty to be appointed in the summer and before that, the spectre of Mourinho was rearing its ugly head (again, for the umpteenth time).

The only viable name (IMHO) that they haven't dragged out of the locker is that of Frank Rijkaard.

Its The Mirror, nuff said.

Rodgers looks out of his depth at Liverpool, Benitez - not in a million years. If the Catalan braintrust sacked Mancini and replaced him with Rodgers they should immediately be shit-canned.

If they did get rid of Bob Frank Rijkaard would be the one I would want to replace him.
He did a lot for Barca and their progression as a passing team. He would also know both the Ajax and Barca template for progression of youngsters which he could implement at the new academy.
He would also be well respected by the players. I like him. He would be a good fit for our club.
BUT, that is IF they get rid if bob which I don't think they will.

If this was proposed for the scum instead of us ... it'd already have featured in "Head's Gone" on talkShite ...

Why is this even a thread? Even I won't start a thread like that :p

I thought this was the daily bollox thread for a minute.

While we're at it, the Guardian is saying Pellegrini.

Based on his agent who also represents a number of players, but they can't be arsed finding out who & stopped once they read Pellegrini's name - he'll no doubt snub us and we'll have to stick with Mancini

Waste of a thread. As if Rodgers would resign from Anfield and replace a proven multi winner like Mancini. Similarly this Pellegrini link holds no water as he is quite old and doesnt fit the ball if where we want to go. Neil Custis article in Sun on Sunday and way he spoke on Sunday Supplement was dead right and very sensibly put.

Mancini will stay because the owners are not as fickle as Chelski's. Come 11 May he'll have won four trophies in three years, and the fans sing his name at every match. They owners will pay attention to these things.

Its not about being fickle is it? If they believe that Mancini has again exhibited a number of flaws that have shone through his whole career, or that he has repeated mistakes they have previously discussed such as issues handling the squad, champions league performance etc, they could easily decide that he has taken the club as far as he can.

That doesnt make him a bad manager by the way, and i'm not saying they will, but that would be a perfectly valid view to have given his inability (or stubborn refusal) to learn from mistakes

I can't believe we are having discussions like this based on Mirror "article".
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The speculation will continue until the end of May. Hopefully then one way or another it will be resolved and the rumours will go away.

I would be really pissed if we did sack him, but waited till July to do it as that would not be good for the club.
