First they throw the Suarez to us just because Mancini believes he was the player of the season (do you really think he was going to say RVP?) and then drop the Rodgers link in. Don't call me a sage but I wonder if we'll get the 'Rodgers to take Suarez to City' story soon?
All this on the back of a 6-0 emphatic win for the Dippers. I'm sure none of their fans will want to pick up the paper or click the link online to read that story; surely.
For the last three years, or so, the Mirror has been waging a single minded, one-paper assault on city in an effort to undermine us.
Scarcely does a day go by without an article about how Mancini is within an ace of being sacked and if I had a fiver for all the managers, over this period of time, that were supposedly 'favourites' to take over at The Etihad, I'd be exceedingly wealthy.
Before this current 'revelation' about Rodgers, the owners were poised to offer the job to Frank de Boer, but it would seem that now he is yesterday's man, although they ran with that story for over a week and flogged it for all they were worth. Before that, Ancellotti was a racing certainty to be appointed in the summer and before that, the spectre of Mourinho was rearing its ugly head (again, for the umpteenth time).
The only viable name (IMHO) that they haven't dragged out of the locker is that of Frank Rijkaard.
