come on, that cl win was one of the luckiest i have ever seen and fair play to chelsea for winning it but you cant honestly say they are one of the best teams in europe.

as i said it could be a stupid reason for us not doing well in europe but the types of teams you meet in each competition are so polar opposites you can see how it might be difficult for players. i know the quality is obviously completely different but when barca or dortmund or bayern play in their domestic league they are usually playing againist a team who are technically very good where as we are usually not

Winning is winning, do you think we were unworthy champions of england because we were lucky?

Liverpool and the filth have both won the champions league in the last 10 years as well, Arsenal have made two(?) finals and Chelsea have been in the knockout stages fairly consistently.

We didn't do well because we were in the group of death and a bit niave, no other reason.

no i dont think we were lucky but if utd had won the league i think they would have been lucky. i know the PL teams have done well in europe in the past decade but i am talking about now, todays chelsea, arsenal, united and liverpool team are not be a patch on their respective teams 5-8 years ago, so i can see why them teams were challenging on all fronts with the players they had but them same teams will do very well to be challenging now

Last year we won a race under pressure. We used the same key players as much as possible and when we found a tactic that worked, we stuck with it.

We could have done the same this year, but we wouldn't have seen the same potential gains. Instead we changed tactics, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. There have been ups and downs but we're turning into a more complete team.

We made mistakes in Europe, it's fixable though. Experience as a side is important. It took 9 years for Abramovich to get Chelsea to win. I think we'll do it sooner, but it will take time.

Had we not committed defensive suicide in our home games we would have qualified easily

I was impressed by Ajax, personally, especially for the cost of assembling the team.

I make other posters right, mind, your group was at least twice as difficult as your Salford neighbours'...and Arsenal and Chelsea both had at least one week team in theirs.

to be honest, the champions league exit seems to be concerning almost every fan from every other team. Everyone has a view or knows the reason why etc.... Personally, I couldnt give a toss about Europe. I would like us to firmly establish ourselves and THE TEAM TO BEAT, which mean dislodging the rags from their perch. I wouldnt mind not doing to well in europe for the next 5 years whilst be dominate the domestic scene. We can then start to think about taking apart teams in europe like we do in the premier league.

I dont want us to go into the Europa league either. I know Mancini will use it to tinker about and not care if we dont have a positive end result. He will try and win every game, but with different tactics, some kids thrown in for good measure etc. However, this is still disruptive, it means that the squad gets separated on away days, there is not as much focus on the weekend as the preparation for the midweek games need to happen.

I hope Real put out a weak team and Ajax win in Madrid

Domestic titles is not enough if we want extra revenues coming through the coffers from abroad mate, the CL is very very important to us.Make no mistake.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

I think it has to do with Bobby and this is a bit sad.

I said a while back, Bobby is one of the best managers if he knows his opponents. Seeing every team in Premiership, week in and out, he has developed one of the best scouting system in the world. I am sure if we wake him up in the middle of the night and ask him what foot uses most, i don't know ... Carlton Cole or Ricardo Fuller, he will tell us without a blink of an eye.

However, he is clueless in Europe because he seems he is constantly surprised by his opponents even if they are a comercial team, that we see everyday on tv and on the news. I am prepared to bet that he would be surprised by Barcelona's tactic. He really looks like he has no idea about them. Just look at Ajax, they scored three goals after three identical corners.

8 points down with 5 games, remaining. Won the league with a minute and a half remaining and you think we weren't lucky? We defined what luck was in football last season, if you can't see that then you are not worth the effort. And you are talking about today's Chelsea? The CURRENT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS. Did they win it 5-8 years ago? NO, THEY DID NOT.

FFS, it's like arguing with someone who will answer points with a madlib.
