Hoilett is well worth keeping an eye on.
Cahill was so heavily linked with us in the summer that I would be surprised if he doesn't come into the picture again especially being English, now we have more attempts by Platini & Co to handicap us.
Of course some of those players will sign new deals but if all were available you could build a top 4 ish squad out of that lot plus the Italians. Italy may become a place for bargains, Bosnan or not, due to the impending financial catastrophe.

What are your thoughts on Mancini's stance on Italian players. Do you think he feels some connection to them which might see us bringing a higher proportion in, or does he not give a fuck where theyre from? I've always wanted a Cannavaro (of old) like defender in our team.

Not a bad shout but made of glass, would rather sorenson(although we should of got him this season), Jussi or even Gomes(at a push kuzcack but rather not) from spurs.
According to interview in Finnish media Jussi was approached by us at some stage but said that at his age playing regular football is the most important thing for him. Got to respect that really, turning away from quite likely better contract and winning stuff (without contributing much) to be starter.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

He won't be in that first team for much longer if he continues playing like he has been over the last 18 months. Dire.
They should've sold him and promoted the lower-earning and more agile Al-Habsi.

Montolivo, De Rossi and Chivu all on the Italian list - would be surprised if Mancini didn't look there given that he's commented on all three before.
Flamini and Hoilett are good shouts too.

Hoillett is the one name that stands out.
Could be a useful bench player behind Dzeko, Aguero and Mad Mario.

Definitely some good backup keepers on that last, among some other quality players.
However, dunno how many of these keepers would be down to backup Joe and pretty much
only play Carling Cup and FA early rounds.

I agree with all of that. All I'm saying is that you have got to respect feller who at the twilight of his career prefers playing to just picking up his wages.
It's shame that he is all businesslike in his English interviews. Jussi is one of the funniest characters in game and that comes through in his Finnish interviews. Also, I know someone from my own playing days who later played with Jussi and still keeps contact with him and apparently he is extremely likeable, down to earth and nice feller. So I've always cheered for him.
But it's true that for past year or so his form has been shocking and I don't quite understand why they sold Al Habsi who clearly was future for them.

Mancini will have seen more of the Italian based players in the flesh & know more about their backgrounds through his contacts there, so probably feels a bit more comfortable taking a punt on a player from that league than from elsewhere. So if we do pull a surprise/gamble signing out of the bag, I'd expect Italy or the Prem would be the most likely 'bag' we'd pull it from.

One of the times that I went to Bolton away (I think it was about 2004 - McManawoman played and we won 3-1) I had a walk around the outside of the ground because I arrived proper early. Jaaskalainen was outside and he spent ages posing for pictures and chatting with the local kids. I've liked him ever since then, and he
has had an admirable Premier League career. His service to the club is probably why they feel the need to keep him as Number One despite his ongoing decline.

Flamini and Hoilett are good shouts too.
I'd love to see De Rossi playing for us. He's one of my favorite players. Can't see it happening unless we fail to agree a deal with Nige. I mustn't have seen the best of Montolivo because he hasn't impressed me when I've seen him yet is very highly rated.
Hoilett is the pick of the prem list. I can see him getting a decent move in Jan.
Probably not good enough for us but I've been impressed with Klasnic every time I've seen him. He'd be a decent Bosman for someone.
Oh and Bolton need a new team.

Chivu would be great for us, probably 31 or 32 now but class defender and he's from Mancini's old side.

I'd definately have a look at Schwarzer or Jussi as a veteran back up to Joe. They may want to continue being number one but you never know with the enticement of Champs League and top of the table football plus a decent pension.
Pantilimon doesn't look good enough and even if we were to keep him I'd prefer to develop him by sending him out on loan like the kids. Stuart Taylor as we have seen is not awful but not good enough for the level we are playing at if Joe gets injured (touches wood frantically).
With a young keeper like Joe who's only going to take a few games off a season a veteran is what you want. Combine that with some promising kids in development/ on loan.
Never too early to contemplate a move before they're chained down by long term contracts and their owners try to screw us over the transfer fee!

Hahahahaha. Replace him in terms of what? Will we need a new man to come in and do light recuperative training in isolation?
I actually think there's more to come with Hargreaves. I think he'll take it easy until Christmas to make sure he's fit and ready during the ACN.
