Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Can't wait but there's still a game before then that is very important. Villareal is a must win and we'll see how important it is to us with Bobby's selection on Tuesday.
As for the Derby, it's not a must win or at least get a point, it's a game where the players should be allowed to show their wares and prove to theselves that they can go toe-to-toe with the current champions and CL finalists. We've got the confidence behind us with our unbeaten run in the league and it's just a matter of us doing it in such an unwelcoming background.
I have faith.

funny you say that - for me, champs league is for next year, league is for this year. if we were to be in the "champions" league next year, i'd hope it would be as champions. i think getting knocked out of the chumps league at the earliest opportunity might just be the making of us.

I'd give that a thum... i mean i agree CL can go take a hike this year, Prem is way way way more important. That said CL games are a good training ground there is no doubt.. and bring the team back down to earth, which i have sneaky feeling they need at the mo. So I'd still go for getting out of the group for the continued testing of the games, but really not arsed how far we get in the glory stakes.
Next year is gonna be different though.

I'd probably agree if we were well and truly out of contention but that ain't the case and if we win it will give the lads that extra incentive to push through. We have a squad, if managed correctly, that can compete on all fronts and only when it's not mathematically possible should we be thinking of getting out of the race.
I'm sure every player we have on the CL books will be wanting to get through to the final stages, and probably above our next game at the Swamp. Not reaching the play-off stages may actually have a demotivating affect on our players and staff, as well as possible future signings, so for me it is imperative we give it 100% until the end.

Yeah don't get me wrong Beefy, I certainly want the players and the squad to give it 100% and see what they can do. What i dont want is for Mancini to see it above the Prem and uses players accordingly. It is my own personal preference that we focus on the Prem.
I'm not sure that not doing well in the CL would have any negative effect as you suggest though.. there are no real expectations on them anyway this year in the CL. Go for it have fun, learn as much as possible but no serious heavy shit attached.
Tbh I'd be inclined to think it would be a spur to get stuck in harder if we fucled the whole thing up in CL and dont get out of the group.
As i say i wont be crying about it anyways.

Everywhere a City fan works there will be a number of other mancunians strangely missing on Monday morning.
BBS - Mancunians??? - OK you got me
But I agree with the gist of your comment - I live in Wokingham (Berkshire) and there will be a lot missing down there

I reckon we will draw or lose. Even those low expectations have got me very nervous about the game already.
Also what build up??? Not heard a single thing about the upcoming 1st v 2nd derby game between the 2 best teams in english football. It's like sky don't want anyone to watch it or know it's happening. Not even seen 1 advert ffs.

Is it not a tad too late for a thread about the derby. We played Bolton back in August FFS

Based on the current situation a loss is not so devestating. I mean think about this, we stay +/- 2 points of each other all season the 2012 derby at home would truly be the decider, and I like our odds in that one.
That said, to go 5 points clear of them would be amazing capital, and great fodder for them to furhter expound on how money has ruined football, which is probably a true statement given the fact all their money is what has made them the most successful team since the premier league was created. You Brits really do have a great grasp on irony.

Tradition Dameerto, nothing more nothing less. In 1903 it was truly the World Series, would be silly to change it to something like North America Series.
