If she gets it it will settle the debate on whether she is good enough, i'd be interested to watch this one.

The debate was never was she good enough, she may well have all the tactical knowledge of a male counterpart, may know the training regime's and strategy's to lay out a season plan and knowledge to execute it.

The problem is will she be accepted by a male dressing room and having spent a lot of time with professional footballers, I can tell you they are the most misogynistic group of guys you are ever likely to meet. And the sad fact is, it's not just a few of them..out of the squad of 30 we had, I can tell you there was only one guy there who wouldn't cheat on his wife, mainly because he was the wrong side of 30 and couldn't afford a divorce any more.

Hope Powell could be brilliant, ingenious and better than every guy in the industry, wouldn't make a bit of difference.

Careful Slim; you can't go round using big words like this here!

When will the appointments be announced? I think it would be a great appointment and hope she gets it.

As a little aside: for some reason this has stirred a very distant memory of a TV comedy program from my childhood where a female coach took over a failing football team and immediate renamed the side 'Frilly Knickers' on the basis that crowds would exhaust themselves laughing at their team name and take pressure off their woeful performances on the pitch. Anyone else remember this?

If she was considered good enough and she got the job on that basis...then more power to her.

We all know what a dressing room full of lads can be like but as proffessionals they will demand two things. A successful side and a successful career. If she can deliver on that, I think she will (maybe grudgingly) accepted. If the guys that employ her can take the pressure I am sure she will.
She won't be doing the job alone but will have a coaching team around her, so maybe the problem won't be as bad within the club. Most managers take flak from outside, so I reckon she has a chance.
If she gets it...GOOOD LUCK TO HER.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT
