I don't know exactly what there problem is as a whole, although I'd be willing to bet the losses of Arbolea, and definitely Alonso have caused their midfield to be incohesive. Actually, their midfield tonight against Lyon was attrocious; if their jerseys didn't say Liverpool, I'd swear I was watching a second-division game in some tiny european country. How many inaccurate passes did they have, due to miscommunication or downright stupidity?

Anyway, my point is that even Gerrard and Torres cannot save this team from a finish outside of the top 4. There simply isn't the depth, especially at midfield, for them to succeed. Their second best midfielder is Benayoun.. what does that tell you? Not saying he is bad.. but c'mon..

totally agree, however, I thought exactly the same before last season began and thought they were the most obvious ones to drop out of the top 4 but they played amazingly well last year. Probably due to Alonso and gerrard having great seasons, and a massive slice of luck with them scoring winners in injury time in many games.

I would love Arse and Liverpool to finish outside the top 4 this year, it would be a massive shake up for the premier league.

I just wish that we were playing them this weekend instead of the scum, maybe they'll do us a swap? ;-)

Other than that - Never ever want the scum to win a game ever - 0 points in a season would see me happy ...

realistically though - Scouse1 are fucked...

Well I bring it up every so often since I first got slagged off on here for making a bet with a scouse friend of mine on the day of the takeover. 1000 euro for whoever wins the title first.

Now I don't think we'll win the title this year, but at the time I said I felt Liverpool will get further away while we get closer and closer.

There is no doubt that they are getting further away from the title... in fact, more importantly, they're getting further away from the financial security needed to catch up on us big clubs :)

Ideally, I'd like a draw on Super Scumday (like what I did there?!)... but other than that, I definitely want a rag win. It has fuck all to do with supporting them, its to do with keeping Liverpool's bad run going for as long as possible.

If we take their champs league spot and they lose in Lyon, they are completely screwed for next season and not only can we take their targets, we can take their best players. Then...

BANG. Prem title and 1000euro.

I got called a dreamer when I first told you lot about this bet.

What do you lot reckon about my dream now?

Prefer the Dippers to win on Sunday. Then we can can give them a good hiding in a few weeks. Man for man we are better now, their 2 stars excepted of course. The rest of them are shite.

I can't remember a Liverpool team this weak. They are in masses of trouble, because if United do humiliate this weekend (which really isn't out of the question with no Gerrard), then they'll be more pressure on Benitez's position, and a proper confidence crisis in the dressing room. With the ownership mess I can't see how they could possibly attract a top manager until the boardroom is resolved, but with the squad they have, it's going to be incredibly tough for them to grind out the points they need. If, and that is a big if, they miss out on the Champions League places I don't see how Torres can stay, and I wouldn't think Aquilani or even Gerrard for that matter would be impressed with the prospect of Europa League football. Right now, Liverpool are on the brink of a potentially spectacular collapse. I don't want United to win any more than the rest of you, but out of curiosity's sake I am intrigued to see how many more body blows the Scousers can take before they fall.

It has to be a draw. Limit the points of both of them. As has been said, L'Pool don't seem to have the strength in depth and will suffer even more as the season progresses.
I'm not that worried about the rags either. I see them in a similar light. The season has a long way to got and their squad problems will get to them sooner or later.
What we have to do is to keep ploughing our own furrow and picking up the points....and DREAMS DO COME TRUE.

Thanks buddy!

You're right mate. There is something that is gonna affect the big four this season much more than us and the magic word is SQUAD.

Our strenght in dept is going to be key when we hit the christmas period and into the new year. A few injuries/suspensions to us (which we've had since the start of the season), and we still have a fantastic team. The same can't be said for any of the others.

I agree ... could you imagine last season having the luxury of sitting ireland if he went through a rough patch and needed time to sort it out? of course he needs to be on the field, but being able to replace (temporarily) that kind of quality and still play some good games is a great plus. Not to mention we've had robinho, tevez, adebayor, toure, kompany ... injured or suspended for different periods of time and still able to produce results speaks alot to our depth.

No way. It will be much better if only one draws and the other loses.

I never ever want the scum to win (although if its the last day of the season and the title is between us and whoever they are playing...Hmmm).

I really hope Liverpool win on Sunday. I can't, for the life of me, see how they're going to win given all their injuries and their poor run of form but a Liverpool win keeps the hopes of winning the title for us and youse alive.

As someone's already said, the Scousers will more than likely slip up to a lesser team. Have you seen their run of fixtures between now and Christmas? Methinks Rafa's a goner by the new year.

Unfortunately teams are scared shitless of the rags & most don't produce anything like their top form against them. An average rags performance wins most games. CSKA today were a prime example; like rabbits in a car's headlights. For that reason & the fact that our main stated ambition is top 4, I recon it's better to get rid of Liverpool early doors & worry about the rags in about 6 months if we're close enough to them.

Rags will defo be threabouts whatever happens Sunday. If scousers beat them, it could be a shot in the arm which changes their season. I'll still be cheering scousers though; can't help it!
