Sources have told ESPN FC that Liverpool have already rejected an enquiry from Manchester United about the player's availability and it looks highly unlikely they would sell one of their prize-assets to their biggest domestic rivals.
Rivals in battling it out for fourth spot.

Looks like Liverpool are after Tevez and Pirlo, amongst others. Will our fee for Sterling fund their rebuilding? Tevez would be a good buy for them, still a top striker.

Following in the footsteps of Balotelli.
If this comes about, I wonder if their time at Scousepool will be equally auspicious ??

I can't see Tevez back in the North West with either us, nor particularly Liverpool.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

seems we're genuinely in for him but i really hope we don't overpay in both the fee and the wages like we did back when Mancini was manager and we needed to overpay to get some good players here
I'm not really a City fan. I'm just here for attention.

Everyone is going to have to accept that to get Sterling we are going to have to overpay.
He has two years left on his deal, Liverpool are not keen to sell him, he is English, already good enough to get into our team, and potentially world class.
That's how it works.
£40 mil sounds about right.

For about the 50th time, he can buy his fucking contract out in December and leave. Liverpool don't have a say in that, so he will not be sold for a massive transfer fee unless we end up inflating the price by bidding against Chelsea and the rags

Sky just reported breathlessly that their sources say City would be interested if Sterling becomes available. They are ridiculous. The world and his wife know that.

Chill yo. S'all good. I got you. Didn't know where the info was coming from, so I see this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... ummer.htmlHowever, I was thinking that this would not make him look good in the public eye when he wants to improve his view, surely, after all that's happened.
Then I then saw this:
http://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/li ... -sure-okayIt's an option that, if enacted, would put Sterling in a powerful bargaining position with Liverpool, although not without seriously damaging the player's standing with fans. More to the point, there isn't much precedent for players using this option to negotiate a better deal with their current club or a transfer to a new one — Jonas Gutierrez is a notable example in England having bought out his contract at Mallorca in order to move to Newcastle United — and the number of high profile players who have done so is approximately zero.
Dude ain't leaving Liverpool hanging. Would be even worse for his reputation, he is not dead set on going to City, and a bidding war would help him get the best deal for himself.

What has the fan's view got to do with anything? It's not a popularity contest, it's his football career.

Life isn't going to turn out to be full of good things for that poor lad with a cunt like that as his dad. I'm all for a bit of passion, but parents on the whole know that there is a line to be drawn, how on earth does he think his son's going to react to his snarling and abuse towards a bloke on a football pitch?

Had a good chat with my best mate over a fair few pints on Friday night. He's a life long Liverpool fan and in despair at the moment. He thinks they are gone to shit. He knows they've squandered the money for Suarez and can't see things getting better any time soon. There is trouble behind the scenes and he reckons Sterling is right to get out.
There is also the rumour going around that a lot of the players aren't happy and that Stevie G. was asked but wouldn't sign another contract. Rodgers seems to be the problem. It certainly had that ring about it yesterday. Who knows what they'll do this summer.
