With no Blue tints on, this has proved to me, without a shadow of doubt, that we do not choose on form or prospect, we just chose on who is the biggest club.

Hodgson is a sell-out, just like many before.

Almost another World Cup match over for Rooney now, and his contribution?

One good cross, hiding from heading the ball, and standing around looking knackered.

And all the media will say is that he "worked hard, 7/10."

Rooney and Gerrard standing over a free kick. The most dispiriting sight in football.

With predictable results.

I wanted to mention this earlier but how are we really seen around the world?

The Brazilians are on our backs, whistling away. Does that say something about our standing in world football politics?

Honestly, can you hear them?

Rooney the ball thief - didn't want Barkley going for glory.

With their penchant for military dictatorships, they need to have a look closer to home. Maybe, on the football side, they swallow every manipulative lie peddled by Sepp Blatter.

There's an economic 'block' in South America that's like a baby version of the early EEC (before it become the EU) and that block is quite pro-Argentina anti-Britain over the ongoing Falklands issue, as far as I know (having never travelled there) it gets reflected in public opinion too. So if there's a strong South American makeup to the crowd (and FIFA like to distribute a portion of the tickets to the host country) that might explain it.

In 1990, we'd have eked out a draw tonight. But here in 2014 we have a team hampered by two ne'er do wells who have never had a good World Cup game between them. Hodgson deserves as much shit for tonight as those two twats.

I thought argies and Brazilians hate each other football wise though.

Anyway best team won, made defending look easy.

Shearer dares to speak up about Rooney. Tentatively, but at least he said something.

World Cup crowds (for the host anyway) don't tend to be regular football fans though. The tickets go to either people with contacts or to the general public.

Too many fucking long range shots. That's the problem having a team built around Liverpool players. They're clueless when they have to chase a game in the second half... it was like watching Liverpool v Chelsea.

good sign for england we saw most of the team of the future:

especially sterling, sturridge, barkley and lallana. ox is part of that as well, and wilshere.

welbeck is ok to me, and funny how he was considered better than rooney tracking back.

this game sure did little to change anyone's perception of him underachieving, that's for sure.
