Was Mata injured? If not I really am struggling to see why he wasn't picked. Not only is Chelsea's best player he also always has good games v the rags.

Nope not injured just dropped from the squad. And I totally agree about what you said, he was one of the best midfielders last season so im struggling to understand Jose's reason for not playing him

You still up! I think Jose has used the excuse he isn't fully match fit yet.Sounds like a smoke screen to me.

I'd have Mata over Silva tbh. Been the better and more consistent player for the last 18 months. Also carries far more of a goal threat.

I agree that he was better than silva last season but silva has looked sharp abd up for it this year in my opinion? And if mata is injured then ok but if not chelsea are costing themselves good attacking threat and dependable player in midfield

Silva whilst not being terrible has not even come remotely close to recapturing his 2011 form. We've had the odd game here and there where he reminds us but he's not managed to put a consistent string of matches at that level together for over a year now. He seems to have lost his ability to open up a defence at will and he keeps trying passes which are simply not going to come off. To some on here though he's immune from criticism.

Mata has continued to improve and with him in the side you always fancy he could nick a goal. 18 months ago I would have laughed if someone told me Mata was the better player, now I think it myself.

Hazard and Welbeck were shockingly bad.....

Oscar was outstanding and ran more than Cahill, Terry, Torres, and Hazard combined. Seriously...that kid covers some ground.

I am surprised that Mourinho only sought out a draw. I guess its his first big match after returning to the league and drawing at Old Trafford isn't so bad. Leaving Mata on the bench is surprising though...maybe he thought De Bruyne would do more tracking back....
they created basically nothing barring 2 Oscar shots and a Cahill 30 yard strike. they defended valiantly though.

and that was one hell of a dive by Ashley Cole in the box.

I don't think there was anything wrong with Mourinho's basic tactics but his team were inept & couldn't pass the ball to each other or see obvious openings. On one occasion, some fucker was dallying with the ball on the edge of Utd's box, with two rags in front of him, whilst another player, completely free, had run in on his right. All he had to do was give him the ball & he was in on goal, but the bloke never even saw him. It was terrible football but unfortunately Silva & Aguero were guilty of the same thing on several occasions v Cardiff.

It wasn't the tactics on either occasion, it was shit play by those tasked with implementing them.

As for the rags, they are just shit & it looks as if it's going to be another Rooney season; where he pushes the rest of the team into performing at a level which enables him to perform & pick up points for them. Now they have RVP, they have a player cabable of nicking goals as well, but Rooney is the talisman; without him they are utterly fucked. RVP wil not raise them, he just plays his own game. I can't see them doing anything anyway, but when you look at the competition; nobody is any good, which keeps the rags potentially involved.

If we get our defence together then we are streets ahead of any of these, but so far the nearest thing I've seen to an organised team is Liverpool. The top sides have dropped in standard almost to the usual 5th 6th place level imo & that puts Liverpool, Arse & Spurs in with a chance.

We have the talent to win this league by 20 points, but if we defend like shit & Silva/Aguero continue to fuck up the attacking game away from home, we will struggle with the rest. It's upto the Count to show us he is as good as they say he is.

Anybody wathing the Dippers game? I'm just wondering why they scored into the 4th minute of added time in extra-time, was there a serious injury or something as you'd only just get that in a full 90, not 15?

Just had the Hinch on SSN in the build up to tonights huge game for the Toon and he does come across really well. I wonder if he'll be the first ex-City player to make it on Sky?

Great run by Stokes to make the winning goal for Celtic! shame from a personal point of view as I missed 85mins of the game and was hoping for extra-time
