January 23 transfer window.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Just plain stupidity. The boy they will have in their reserves won't be any worse

I think the world of football is lacking strikers (center backs also).
Like proper goal scoring machines. I think everyone had those, look at the quality in the 90s and 00s. Sadly today they are missing that is why our quest for one was so difficult. I think the importance of inside forwards grew, while for old school poachers disappeared.

Look at Wood, top bloke I reckon, but he in never in his life is a top forward. Look at filth and their struggle to find a poacher since Shrek retired.

That's as maybe but it doesn't mean clubs like Bournemouth are spending that kind of money on a player who is 90-95% certain to not score the goals they think he will and who will be solving 18m to two years for half of what they paid. If they are lucky.

I agree there is a dearth of top level forwards who guarantee goals. But there are still plenty of forwards out there in the football pyramid that are better bets than who Bournemouth are after. Plus it keeps the money in the English pyramid

I think you cannot pay less for a striker because teams like Chelsea and United ruined the market for english football, but you will always hear about City.
If a Premier League team is interested, you get 5-10 mil over the original value.
I thinking Daka from Leicester. Look at his number before coming in England.

So then clubs shouldn't get rinsed by foreign agents and look closer to home

But is the quality home?
I am looking at goal scorers in Championship, nothing special.
Rarely I think they give the chance to young fellas, at least in the Premier League.

If I was City I would be smart. Propose them Borges and see how he is doing at this level. Sure, they can refuse.

No guarantee of goals anywhere. But a championship player who had a record of 1 in 8 wouldn’t be getting sold for £20m. There is better value to be had in the lower leagues of England than abroad at this level

Callum Doyle has signed a new contract at Manchester City until 2027!

The 19 year old centre-back impressed in Sunderland’s promotion from League One last season, and has also done well at Coventry City this season in his 2nd loan spell.

That's an interesting one. Not seen much of him at Coventry but he was well liked at Sunderland. We must be keeping an eye on him?

Sky is putting all its might behind a push for Bellingham to dipperland.

And in no article do they point out the absolute shambles the team are, playing out nil all mid-table thrillers.

Players move for the likelihood of trophies and the guarantee of money.

It seems only journalists don't know this

Their dip in form has guaranteed that he will not go there. I'll be very surprised if he is not rocking up here

Empire of the Kop are running a story on hoping his "natural smartness" will see him choose them over City and Real

Sadly I didn't have the power to comment. You couldn't make it up

Rumours Barca are willing to listen to offers for Ferran. Sometimes it just doesn’t workout how you thought young guy. All the best at someone like Milan.

Another to add to the “I let my bird dictate where I play” folder.

Turns out if Spuds sign Porro for the £39m release we will get another £11.2M as part of the sell on clause.

I’m assuming we thought he wouldn’t make it. Not sure why Spurs do if that’s the case. Possibly Pep saw his arse because Porro said Pep hadn’t been in contact whilst he was on loan.

Also when we sold him we had Walker as first choice RB. I think we either had Danilo or Cancelo as back up as well and we simply didn’t see him displacing those two, and getting half decent money with the potential for more with sell on clause (30%) was too good a deal to turn down

There are always gonna be a few players who with hindsight we maybe should have kept on or preserved with. But you can’t keep them all and out of all the 30 or more players we’ve sold from the academy in the last 5/6 years how many fall into the bracket of a mistake? There aren’t many. Three, four at a push?

That’s the risk you take with letting players go I guess. But up to now, overall, I think we are ahead
