L'Equipe says he signs a six-month deal tomorrow.

if that's the case then I'd hail it as brilliant signing. World class experienced WINNER joining us in short term.
I'm honestly little bit shocked how many people are opposing this transfer as I honestly believe it's shrewd bit of business.
May I also remind people how good he was always against rags. Scholes will be shitting it thinking he will be kicked by Vieira again.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Its sort of like when we signed Hamaan, but much much better. He could bring a steadiness to us when needed. No downside to this deal.

The only downside I can see (if it really is only a loan) would be the wages which we probably have to pay and which are rumoured to be at 150 000 a week... that's pretty expensive for a 33 year old player who I reckon will spend more time on the bench than in the first team. Piles up to 3.6 million for the 6 months.... I know money doesn't exactly matter that much but that is a lot of money...

It becomes peanuts the second De Jong's injured.

The only downside would be if he turns out to be struggling & still gets in the team because he's been promised games before the World Cup. That would fuck up everything & end up with fan unrest & the sack for Mancini. So long as he we quickly drop him if he's shite, it's a no-lose situation.

Are we missing something here? Could it be that Robbie Manc sees him playing in that centre-back role, rather than in the Dejong bit?
Anyone recall him doing that before? Robbie Manc knows him better than we all do I guess.

we have more than enough defensive midfielders, Nige, Barry and Kompany. Its defenders we need. The Vieira signing doesn't make any sense.

As I've already said, Vieira is Mr Right Now.
at the moment, we need Vinny to play in defence.
An Injury to Nige or Barry and we're short on midfielders. It makes perfect sense, as long as its a loan deal.

Bingo is right - VK I think will be a CB from now on which leaves us light in midfield - no johnson, Ireland struggling with fitness, if anything happens to barry or De Jong then we're in the shtum - good signing for 6 months imo

Says on SSN that Vieira himself has confirmed that he is close to a deal
In terms of this move, I can't see the downsides to be honest. He is better as a CM but can play CB.
I can't wait to see him carrying the ball through the middle.
AND
He is THE LANKY LIMBED BOOMBACLART from the very amusing Nicolas Anelka story....that alone make him worth a punt!

Can't believe it's not on here. Lazio game starts in couple of hours but not showing Inter game. Shit.

I'm watching it on sopcast atm, via a link from myp2p.com, try there mate.
After watching this game so far i don't see any differance between how he's playing now and how he played at Arsenal.
He'd be a cracking signing if we manage to pull it off.

Half time at the minute. Vieira got booked for a bit of a cruncher. Looking very mobile and covering alot of ground.

It's half-time Vieira was quality in the first half. Interestingly Cordoba is also playing for Inter at the back.
Seems a tad like a send off for cordoba to me. Tbh the guy derserves it, hes put in a hell of a shift for inter over the years.

I've got it on now.
You know what mate, I've seen him fair few times for Inter and he hasn't really looked worse than for Arsenal at all. Vieira's "problem" in Italy though is that as the game is much slower, his best attributes, quickly breaking the game and opening counterattack, aren't being used well enough. I really really reckon he'd still be star in England. *Tin hat on* I honestly think he is better player than De Jong as he offers much more going forward.
