I hope I don't leave anyone out but I'll try a poll where you get five options out of the list compiled:

Well there's mine!

I know because there are mids mixed in with strikers, but its overall value and importance to their teams in your opinion.

I didn't go for one midfielder for my vote.

He is indeed mate, and he's doing well this season, scoring his usual "better than one in two" ratio.

I think Roma are top of Serie A now too?

Benzema :)
Totti included... albeit no other player from Serie A.
Only Ribery from the entire Bundesliga.
Nobody at all from Ligue 1 (a top 5 separated by 6 points).
But 10 players from the Premiership - which is no longer represented in the Champion's League (unlike Serie A, the Bundesliga and Ligue 1).

Truly you are a scholar of the game sir.
All we are saying is give Doug a pass.

Sorry your highness, please feel free to tell me the players that would certainly overtake the ones on the list and I'll make an devine edit.

Messi, Tevez, Iniesta, Ronaldo, Higuain for my pick Tevez is a maybe bit biased because he is a City player and having a screamer of a season.

Messi, Rooney, Tevez, Xavi, Torres

Xavi would actually be my dream signing, he's the kind of guy who would fit into our midfield perfectly!

If you're not trying to provide a comprehensive list why have you included Benzema, Anelka, Adebayor, Ibra and such?

You could have a poll to see who the best player in the world was and include only Messi, but it wouldnt be especially enlightening.
All we are saying is give Doug a pass.

I think the scope is too general, xavi is hardly the same sort of player as Drogba and if we are including such a wide scope of players here, how come defenders and keepers aren't included?

If you don't think the best 5 players in the world are in there, then just list your top five.

Or make a poll yourself. Its been a while since you did anything of note anyway...

Why are strikers and midfielders in same poll? I refuse to vote.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Again mate, it was something I was trying off the cuff to see what the general consensus was as to the top five players in the world and at the moment I don't belive a defender or keeper would make that list.

Like I said to DHTP if its that wrong, just list your top five players in world football mate? I'll honestly be suprised if they're not on that list...

Sorry mate, I tried to explain it in this thread, but obviously not too well.

at this moment in time I don't believe a defender or keeper would make it into the top five players in world football.

Obviously there are players a few people reckon would make it into the top five world football that aren't on the list, so I'll say the same to you - just give your list of the top five in your opinion.

If a name keeps cropping up in the top five I'll hold my hand up, but I can't imagine it TBH.

Ok then.

Messi, Lampard, Xavi, Torres, Fabregas.
