Training Friday 4/12

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Training Friday 4/12

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Fri Dec 04, 2009 3:08 pm

Seems that Ireland,Bellamy and SWP are doubts for tomorrow according to Sky but nothing I can confirm as it was all behind the iron curtain again today. Plus they were late going out anyway today.

The fencing is now all the way around the one pitch ( the undersoil heated one) and it is even slightly raised fencing to stop the cameras getting decent pictues from the higher ground on the far side. It does seem clear that the Friday training ( or the main one before matches ) will be behind the fencing , which has a logic to it and on other days who knows. I have had a call from Vicky Kloss and a meeting is to be arranged ( with her, me and NMT plus a guy from the ground) to see what we can sort out and it hopefully will be next week.

thats really good news Doug, hopefully the club will keep up its excellent fan experience and employ you to report on the training ground, I dont mind losing you to the club if they are offering you a better package ;-)

i think it's so fantastic that they'll even meet with you Doug. i can't even imagine any sporting club in the US that would even consider such a thing to be fair. And most teams with our current, albeit newfound, stature would just tell someone to fucl off in a polite fashion. hope it goes well.

cheers

Nice one Doug, I hope they sort something out even if you don't get in for the session before matches, like you say that makes sense to be fair. Top fella in your commitment for the report, it's much appreciated fella!

Excuse the pun but i reckon the meeting will be to discuss "ground rules" i.e. what you can & can not write in your reports to us, your faithful followers. I guess someone will be charged with monitoring your reports, even e-mailing them to training staff to make sue you're not giving too much away.

Good Luck Doug, your reports since the fencing have still been greatly appreciated (i.e. the effort you go to especially in this weather), but i can't wait for them to get back to your usually high standard.

I too like everyone else am truly impressed by the way the club listen to the fans these days, i seriously doubt there is another club Prem club that goes to the lengths they do now.

I THINK THAT WOULD BE FAIR.........IM ALL FOR TRAINING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AS SOME SET PLAYS HAVE TO BE KEPT FROM ALL PRYING EYES.
BUT IF DOUG GETS TO SEE AND REPORT ON CERTAIN THINGS THAT THE CLUB AGREES OR VETS BEFOREHAND THEN THAT WOULD BE GREAT AS WELL.

Thanks Doug, always look forward to your posts. The fact that they are meeting you is a good sign and generally means they have something to negotiate with you otherwise you would have been politely told 'its not happening'. Hope it works out and we can continue to get a vauable insight on the players and staff at our club.
Hoping our new rollercoaster gives us the thrill of our lives.

No that will not be what the meeting is about. They know we have not and would not write about anything contentious that goes on at training and definitely not what specifics are being worked on for the forthcoming game. They know that especially bearing in mind many of the things we are told but don't post and wouldnt dream of doing.

I think though when I get togather with NMT we just might have a thought or two of our own as to how things might work to enhance the relationship with the club and fans.

WHAT THE CLUB SHOULD DO IS PROBABLY PUT A QUESTIONAIRE UNDER EVERY SEAT IN THE STADIUM AND THEN AND ONLY THEN WILL THEY RECEIVE BACK THE CORRECT INFORMATION.

MAYBE THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS?????? OR HAVE THEY?

DONT TAKE OFFENSE DOUG - IT JUST CHEESES ME OFF WHEN THEY GRAB ONE FAN (YOUR LOYALTY NEVER IN QUESTION) AND ASK THEM WHAT THEY THINK..........THEY SHOULD DO THE ABOVE SURVEY WITH EVERY FAN THAT GOES TO HOIME GAMES IMO AND THEN THEY WILL HAVE A MUCH CLEARER PICTURE.

ACTUALLY SEEING AS YOUR THERE MAYBE THAT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO BRING UP???????

I THINK CITY AS A CLUB ARE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT TO MAKE THE FANS WELCOME...TICKETS WAS AND IS THE BIGGEST POSITIVE THAT THE CLUB HAVE DONE....VERY SMART OF THE CLUB TO SAVE FANS MONEY.

JUST ME PENNIES WORTH MIND.!

Carl, they did a full survey last year online, where we were asked numerous questions from Balti Pies to whether we thought Mark Hughes was the man for the job.

And for you Doug, hope your meeting with Vicki is fruitful and I'm sure that all will be right by time you leave her ;-)

THEN DOUGS POST IS CONFUSING MATE AS HE SAID THE MEETING WAS NOT ABOUT THE REPORTS HE DOES BUT WAS GOING TO BE ABOUT HOW TO ENHANCE THE FANS ECT.

IF THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE A SURVEY THEN I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULD ASK A FAN ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR TOPIC????????

I may have read it differently mate and seen it as the reports were the way to bring the fans closer to the club..............or to get Doug's size 9 in the door? Wait a minute, is Dougie just looking after himself and we'll find out that he's disappeared behind the wire with the rest?

at last a positive step coming from city ,really pleased for you Doug ,i carn't see them not letting you in now but if they do you could continue your reports with a load of bull-h-t like chinners mentioned already or maybe thats what Vicky has got in mind ,you know how crafty women can be,

Perhaps after this meeting Doug's training reports will stop and we'll see him sat with the coaching staff at games.

Maybe my post was confusing /misleading. As I said I don't believe the meeting will be about what we can or cannot write.Hopefully that is almost taken as a given but what I did say was what I hope or think it might be about.

I have no doubt there will be some going over the key issue of the fencing being put up so that cameramen cannot get pictures but also so that nobody , fans like me and NMT included can see the tactical training sessions. But after that it will be about what access we can have and I hope some discussion about how it could be beneficial for the club for us to be able to watch and post wothwhile stuff which would be of interest to the fans. I don't know anything for sure but I can hope and for the meeting to be suggested at all I see as a plus.
