Superman - All them goals and sitting on the bench

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

May I suggest that this thread is a tad reactionary?

Ok all threads are a reaction to a thought on something or t'other, but I really don;t think Ireland has anything to worry about. He's oviously a well talented, gifted footballer. I'll eat my own face if Hughes doesn't realise this (even all the Rags I know admit it their more covetous, furtive, confessional moments);- he will be a pivotal player for us this season, I have no doubt aobut that. Also in seasons to come - I have good faith in him being loyal, able, and patient enough to make his mark on this club far more than he has already, and he's done pretty bloody well so far.

King of the Pikies. And I mean that as a compliment. His touch is amazing and I love him, without wishing to sound too much like his missus.

TBH, didn't really consider that aspect, but yeah agreed: someone with his ability should definitely have a a few more digs, especially as he finds himself in or around the box so often due to his general mintness and willingness to get forward.

Hopefully he's reads some of this stuff..!

A mini-injury crisis down the left.

Also the fact that we had drawn the last 7 league games may have something to do with it.

He will take up his first team spot again.

I have no doubts over him. He is a fantastic player but hopefully he can just adapt to his new role.

Ireland will shine again when the other players (Tevez, Bellamy, Adebayor) understand him. Against Arsenal it was amazing how many times he made excellent runs only for no one to pass to him. And we know he has great vision too.

Tevez has been great of late but his head is down far too much when in possession. Same with Adebayor. Robinho on the other hand works well with Ireland because he looks up.

I still think our team should be built around Ireland. I really think he's that good.

With respect, I disagree. I don't think it's down to the other players to understand him, it's a matter of Stevie stamping his mark on the game like he did last season. It's down to them to undertsand what e is doing as he is the central bloke who tells them where to go.

Once he gets over the fact that he is just as good, if not better than our 25 million pound players, then the better he will play. He is our Gerrard, Lampard and Fletcher rolled into one, and the quicker he understands that, the better it will be for the team!

I would agree normally, but the filcher does seem to make them tick. And if Stevie scores 2 against them like he did with us, then that little misjudgement of spelling will be well worth it.

Go get 'em Superman!!!
