IMo there are two reasons why Dzeko is poor when he starts. The first is our shape. We always start narrow and more particularly cautiously. Dzeko offers nothing against a tight defence that we are trying to penetrate with little dinked through balls. However, lets face it, all our strikers find it hard but Dzeko with his poor touch, particularly so. Second, he starts tentatively, for personality reasons, but also because he knows how we are gonna play and that it doesn't suit him, and his head quickly goes down. So, unless we change our style and attack on a wider base early in the game, which involves a change of manager, this situation isn't gonna change anytime soon. When he comes on as a sub, we are often chasing the game, throwing men into advanced positions and driving into the box. The oppos defence is knackered and all of a sudden Dzeko looks a good player. Plus he is often livid which seems to be a necessity for him to function at the required level.
