Post above - that's utter bollocks. Unless he's being paid by them they can't retain control over where he does and doesn't work. They'd be breaking tons of employment laws

Maresca had a fixed term contract with Chelsea that lasted until 2029. That means Chelsea had a valuable asset in the form of that contract (believe it or not). He resigned and left his post. It wasn't by mutual agreement and he wasn't sacked. You can do that in a normal job but football is different. If a manager could just hand his notice in and go work for another team the next day the whole contract system would fall apart. Maresca breached his contract and Chelsea are entitled to compensation. Whenever a manager resigns the club are technically entitled to compensation. Whether they go after it or not is another matter. If Maresca was just going to go fishing with his mates they'd probably turn a blind eye but he hasn't done that he has gone to work with one of their competitors, after he spoke to them while still under contract. Chelsea could most likely take action against City for tapping him up as well. The £17M will be a mixture of compensation for Maresca breaching his contract and an out of court settlement for tapping up.

That's where enjoyment law comes in, with a sprinkling of human rights. Both of which prevent the club from forcing him to work. Employment law gives Maresca the right to resign, but then contract law steps in and sets out the consequences of doing so.

A lot of people on here need enjoyment law forced on them.
