It’s been a while, and I hope everyone is well and ready for the new season. I couldn’t let the first game go by without checking in on the home fans. The first game of the season never stresses me out, and reading these comments does make me feel a little bit confident. Pep has a shiny new team to play with so who knows what we will get this evening. I will try and get more of these done this season, hopefully all the games. As always, three points please... I’m off to listen to Black Country Rock, its been in my head the whole time I have been doing this.

I never expected a win over them under GO after a shambles of a performance against Ipswich. I’m even less optimistic now, 0-3. Maybe a big defeat will see the penny dropping, but that’s as unlikely as us getting a point.
I’m going to be optimistic and say 0-0. It would be great to start with a point for a change.
How many does Haaland usually put past us? Add two more and that is your score line - with none in for us.
Still loads of tickets left. For the opening game. Against Man City.
I was optimistic during the final third/quarter of last season and thought that with some careful planning and recruitment we could look forward to a decent season in 25/26...Now, I generally have little enthusiasm or interest and I can see attending on matchday being a chore.
rying to think a bit more positively, but maybe its a good time to play City, I'd be more worried by playing Burnley or Leeds at home, getting City out of the way may be good. Also, we'll see us set up differently than in the friendlies, we will naturally defend deeper, and it is in those games where Andre can really show himself. One thing I've been impressed with this summer has been set piece delivery and effectiveness. It does seem to have improved under VP, and Arias and Bueno seem to put in a really good corner. So whilst I do think we'll lose, we may build some confidence from a narrow defeat and being resilient.
You've got to think our best chance of getting anything will be piling down our left if Ratheus is stinking out the place at RB (Pep does have some very, very odd ideas).
Regardless of the quality or spending power it’s still 11 v 11 all we can ask for is work rate and application, I can live with any result if we give our best on the day. Nothing like the first game of the season. We have been written off before we have started **** them all.
It's difficult to see us getting a result with what we've got set against what City have. But, fingers crossed, going for 2-2 out of hope we can achieve that.
Praying for a positive result but realistically it’s a comfortable away win and, possibly, a battering.
Expecting a tough day.. being Man City, combined with our usual sluggish start.. A quick dismantling and then they take their foot off the gas.. 0-3
With all this negativity around the club I can see us still causing a shock this weekend 1-0 Arias.
The only saving grace is that it is the first game, so I think they will take their foot off the gas big time and it will play out like a pre-season friendly - by which time I will probably be back in the pub.
I think it really clicks again for City this season. Could be a bloodbath. Just need to keep the goals against column down as we could be rock bottom from day dot and I fear that could set the tone.
City wear their new awful third shirt released today- the team are too embarrassed to play in it , the mighty gold and black stuff them 8 - 0 lol. Realistically can only see a big away win unfortunately.
3 nil City, they never get out of first gear, we don't lay a glove on them. Nothing learned, wasted game.
A closely fought massacre.
