Is The Champions League the Farmer's League?

Postby Original Dub » Thu May 09, 2024 9:23 pm

It's just that the same team seems to keep winning and it's very boring.

Just asking for a friend?

A shitty competition where the team that isn’t the Champion from their country can be classed as the “best team in Europe” if they win it …. Makes zero sense.

A competition where you can be fined more money for coming out 15 seconds late at halftime than your fans chanting racial abuse.

A competition that Slur Alice could only win twice in 20+ years though, even with all the help the rags got

I reckon there should be a single European competition, 96 teams, including all champions of countries, with the remaining 40-odd to be distributed according to coefficient, and no qualification rounds. Group stage for the lowest-ranked 64 (including all non-league winners) in Aug-Oct, with the top 2 in each group going into a 64-team knockout round with the top 32 teams. Rounds of 64 and 32 to be played before winter breaks, and last 16 onward from the second half of the season.

It's a fucking sham and has been since it's inception. All about the money and protecting the old G14 clubs more so with the fucking mickey mouse europa and johnstone paint trophy conference.
IF the PL go ahead with the wages cap approach I can see a European super league happening and that will be it for me

While we’re at it, there’s a reason no English team has got to the final of any of these comps this year.

The Prem is one of the only leagues in Europe that plays this 10 minutes added time nonsense. The players are fucked!

Champions league?
When was the last time Dortmund were Champions?
And they could win it (but probably won't be allowed to).

And next season it gets even more silly.

Still I am glad we've won it, just to take away the constant teasing and bollocks we had to listen to.

We're the only TRUE treble winners in this country. ie winning it as Champions from the previous season.
When the rags did it in 99 Arsenal were the 98 champs.

I would say that the english league is not far behind. Not the farmers league, but very, very overrated.
And understandable.

If you don't do that how can you sell the tv rights as expensive as that?
The Germans and Italians and even spaniards had their share of collosal scandals including bribery and corruption. Have you ever heard about that in the Premier League era?

Sure, I would rather see Watford vs QPR rather than Girona vs Betis, but this doesn't mean the quality different or better in England.

And yeah, the UCL lost it's spark and I reckon it will be even worse.
