Why does Dickov get ALL the plaudits for ‘99? It was actually Weaver that won us the match, not Dickov, but it barely gets mentioned. Dickov actually missed his penalty! Weaver was spot on in that penalty shootout.
I remember the random guy next to my lifting me up in the air when Weaver saved the final one and I had a perfect view of him encouraging the players to catch him while he ran off. Absolutely brilliant!
Definitely deserves more recognition when it comes to our history in my opinion.

Know what you're saying, but at the end of the day it was the team that won it.
Dickov just gets the plaudits for THAT goal, despite not having much of a game otherwise.
Pretty much like Sergio against QPR.
Nicky Weaver himself has said on numerous occasions that he should have saved the second goal, so it's all swings and roundabouts.
At the end of the day it was a team effort, and in fairness, after Dickovs goal the most shown highlights are of Nicky saving the last pen then going on THAT run.
I get that, but the comparison to Aguero’s goal would be better if you used Dzeko’s goal as an example. Dzeko’s got us level, the same as Dickov’s.
Agree about the team effort. Just looking at it, here was our starting 11 from the day -
GK 1 Nicky Weaver
RB 2 Lee Crooks
LB 3 Richard Edghill
CB 4 Gerard Wiekens
CB 5 Andy Morrison (c)
LM 6 Kevin Horlock
CM 7 Michael Brown
CM 8 Jeff Whitley
CF 9 Paul Dickov
CF 10 Shaun Goater
RM 11 Terry Cooke
I didn’t remember that Morrison came off after 61 minutes. In my head he played the whole game. Not sure whether that’s because he obviously lifted the trophy or because he was the one that caught Weaver after his run and dragged him to the floor.
Dickov's and Sergio's goal are the correct comparisons as they were the two that won us the games (Dickov's obviously was an equaliser, not a winner, but kept us in the game) In Kun's case there would have been no extra time or penalties.
Dzeko's goal at the time was a consolation, same as Horland's, but they both enabled us to win the games.
Dzeko and Dickovs goals aren't really conparable at all in their effect on the games, the only similarity being they were both equalisers,
in one game an equaliser was what we desperately needed, in the other it was a winner.
