Baby Boomers were born after the war not in the mid fifties or later. They were the Hippy generation. not mods and rockers

While that's true about baby boomers, mods and rockers came before the hippys.
There were a strange set of people before mods and rockers known as beatniks who were a bit hippyish, maybe that's who you're referring to.

1946-64 is pretty much the general consensus (demographic), although I have seen a 1961 cut-off also given (cultural). I've never seen a definition that cuts off before the mid-1950s.
