I've just read the last few pages of this thread and I must say I can't quite get my head around the sheer effort being made by some to question the intentions of people wishing to take the knee or support BLM.

Sums up the divide in society I guess, but to blame BLM for that is frankly ridiculous. We all agree that something needed to change, right?

So now that something is being done (all be it not want some would think is best) it's being ridiculed and challenged. Makes me wonder why.

Lots and lots of black people have said that to make the change happen we need to keep talking about it. The least this does is to keep the dialogue open I guess?

Thing is Carl, I agree to an extent that the knee does little. But it keeps the dialogue open, which is more than has been done for a long time. For what its worth I don't think you or others are racist, but I do think you're not well placed to challenge it given that its unlikely you'll have experienced discrimination of this nature in the past.

I do not think I am always right and have many posts where I hold my hand up - unlike many on this site , I own up - so you are completely wrong. Your second point - it does keep the dialogue going but causes more divisiveness , which defeats the object altogether.

The last point is so fuckign far off the truth but if there are any people on this site who live or have lived in S Africa back in the 90's then they will know how being white made you a walking target - I was threatened with my life and my career went into free fall due to my color ( 100% factual and still is to this day ) .....I was just an innocent victim of the times...my crime was being a white person ---I wouldn't expect anyone to understand or comprehend what I went through as unless you have lived there then you have little idea but it was that bad I had to leave.

I can name Trinidad and to some extent Jamaica for being treated like trash for being white but I just got on with it...at least I wasn't threatened with death in those countries...just treated like shit in Trinidad and Jamaica had its moments but nothing I couldn't handle.
